Bookish Tag: Around The World in YA

Who doesn’t want to travel? Me, personally as a travel agent, I always find myself thinking when I’ll be able to go to the places my clients are going to. When will be the time where I’ll be arranging my own USA or European Backpacking Trip?

But since wallet and schedule conflicts are still present (lol), what better way to travel than thru books in the mean time, right?

A few weeks ago, Reg from She latitude tagged me to do this  post. The rule is simple: choose a few countries and name your favorite book that takes place in that country. I honestly can’t contain my excitement in choosing the books I’m going to put on this list. So, without further adieu, here are my picks:

UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

I’ve always been  fond of the USA. It seems like the options are endless! Add in the fact that road-tripping seems to be one of the main mode of transportation from one state to another. I just love road trips! So it’s no surprise that my book picks set in the USA are well, road-trip stories.

CHINA

China with its humongous land size just intrigues me. A lot of historical stuffs originates here, so it’s no surprise that a lot of authors are inspired to set their story on this Asian country.

Soundless showed a great amount of Chinese Culture on it and it is actually my first novel by Richelle Mead. I was surprised that  ended up loving it. Cinder is one of my favorite series EVER. Though majority of the series was set on a different country, it still all started in China.

INDIA

India is one of the most colorful country. From the cloths they use for their dresses, colorful accessories and bindis. Their culture is so vast and well maintained even thru the modern generation. It was always nice to read a book set on this country. I love learning more about their culture and  ways and their mythical stories just like what these books has given me:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

UNITED KINGDOM

Ahhh. The country of kings, queens, prince’s, duchess and the endless list of royalties. UK is one of my favorite story setting because through these stories I get to somehow explore the castles, old historical houses and building. And it’s not just London – its main city- that is the interesting place to be when you visit UK.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

FRANCE

Oh the City of Love. Who wouldn’t be inspired to write a love story on this city dubbed as “The City of Love”. Anna and The French Kiss with its Parisian setting just makes the story more “kilig”. It totally fits the whole concept of the book. Just One Day, even though everything happened for just One Day, the place played a huge role on the whole story and on both the main characters.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

ITALY

I did a report back in college about this country and for such a small  country size, boy it has  a lot. To offer. Pizza, pasta, gelato, vespas, gondolas and many other unique stuffs. The stories I picked lives up  to what I expect to see and experience if I ever get the chance to visit Italy. 😉

So, that ‘s basically it. I have a lot more countries that I like to put in and books to include but I have to save them for another time yea?
